Happy New Year; A time for new starts

Today I awoke thinking about new beginnings. We just went from “being” in 2009 to 2010. The first double digits of the new millennium. How fast the time has gone. I remember when I was just a kid and somebody started talking about the year 2000 and it seemed so far away and I wondered if I would live to see it because I would be sooo old! I now have a such a different perspective on age...I wasn't very old at all 10 years ago, now I must admit, I do feel my age on occasion!

But I digress...I awoke thinking about how it was God's idea, new beginnings. It was His idea to have a new day every 24 hours and a new year every 365(6) days. The new birth was His idea also. I especially love the scripture that says His mercies are new every morning; He knew we would need abundant mercies and He wanted us to know He had already known that and provided for us. How wonderful to contemplate His love for us, His mercy and grace!

I try to start everyday thanking Him for those new mercies and entrusting Him with my family, with the day that lies ahead. I ask for His protection and guidance also. You see, I come from a long line of “worriers” and believe me I know how to worry! But worrying is bound to fear and the Lord does not want His people to be bound by fear. He is the Author of Faith and over and over again tells us not to fear. He tells us to obey Him and walk in faith. To rightly divide the Word. To encourage each other as long as it is “today” and that is what I am trying to do.

Since I was a kid I have been interested in living off the land and being self-sufficient. I don't know why. I have also had visions of a day when life would be very different from the one of luxury that we have --even now with the economy heading south, we are still living in luxury with clean running water and abundant food, heat and shelter. Yes, I know there are homeless and hungry people here and it will increase, but there are also homeless shelters and soup kitchens. I see a day when there will be little resources for the downtrodden as so many will find our way of life has simply evaporated.

But God will still reign and if we can keep our hope alive, we can overcome.

It is our spiritual fervor, knowing we are in the right, and that we can petition the all-powerful God of Heaven and Earth, to assist us in our fight against tyranny that will be our rock, our firm foundation in the days ahead. I believe He will also work miracles on our behalf and in response to our faith. I expect to see them; I hope you do too.

Happy New Year; Happy New Beginnings,
HUP
